Drops of Jupiter

Today is our first (and only) full day here in Milan, and so we rise early to make the most of the time we have. Continue reading “Drops of Jupiter”

The importance of being Aubergine.

The other day I had a craving for the humble aubergine. In a ‘first world problems’ scenario my local supermarket was bereft, so I called and asked my father to grab me a couple since we were due to meet up after work anyhow. Continue reading “The importance of being Aubergine.”

The Golden Age

So it’s not quite 5pm here in Spain and I’m somehow several vino tintos down and have joined an impromptu singing session, despite my companions being several decades my senior, and me unable to converse in their shared tongue.

Let’s rewind a little and see how I ended up in this-really rather glorious-situation. Continue reading “The Golden Age”

Got to be starting something…

When people at work asked me what I was up to at the weekend I told them I was going to an event for small business start-ups. They looked at me quizzically and asked ‘erm, why?’, but the real question should have been ‘why not??’.  Many of you may have made New Year’s resolutions, that a mere three weeks in you are barely sticking to (I decided to indulge in dry-white-wine January, I’m doing great by the way!) so this is the perfect opportunity to propose a resolution that might stick, to do something different, and make this year special. A blooming good night

The first few weeks back at work after the Christmas break have given me the January blues. To rally everyone back into the festive spirit however, Manchester has decided to offer 50% off the bill at a lot of it’s restaurants for the entire month. Obviously it’s a cunning ploy to keep us all eating, drinking, spending, and generally pretending that there’s thing in life to look forward to aside from the freezing rain and dark gloomy nights. Bonnie and Clyde

Today I’m going to go shoot a vintage rifle. It’s a beautiful old thing with a deep mahogany coloured wooden stock. It reminds me of the one in the pictures of Bonnie pointing it at Clyde i’ve seen over in Dallas. Continue reading “Bonnie and Clyde”

Purple rain

Yuk. My mouth tastes like last night’s sangrita (that’s a sangria flavour margarita to the uninformed). Although tequila is a pretty grim flavour for 10am, it is at least testament to the fun I had yesterday evening here in Uptown. Continue reading “Purple rain”

Une Bonne Aventure…

Today I’m heading slightly out of town up to Savannah’s Bonaventure Cemetery on the bluff of the Wilmington River. Seen as it was a key deciding factor on me stopping here over Charleston; I’m pretty excited to say the least. Continue reading “Une Bonne Aventure…”

Rebel with a cause

Today I rise early with a somewhat wine flavoured headache, and set off in the rush hour traffic to Reagan Airport. This morning I’m leaving DC flying Delta via Atlanta, to Savannah. Continue reading “Rebel with a cause”
