Marco…Polo.

It was a hot summer’s night. The temperature here in London had soared into the 30’s during the waking hours, bringing with it a dense heat usually only found on the continent.

Taking it sloe

I’m in Plymouth this weekend for the bank holiday visiting the bestie, and whilst she is out at work, I have the whole of Friday to myself; the perfect opportunity to explore my surroundings. Continue reading “Taking it sloe”

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

April came to a close as if it were deepest darkest winter, the weather changing from a subtle spring sunshine, to a ferocious biting cold; bringing with it snow, hail and a dense milky fog.

My morning commutes to work offered a glimpse of the moors above me, their usually colourful and tree-lined foresty hilltops out of sight, masked by this uncustomary meteorological shift.  Continue reading “Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes”

About: Time

I recently agreed to take part in a lifestyle survey about how I spent my time over the course of an entire week, logging my daily activities in half-hourly increments throughout the day. Honestly? it drove me completely frickin’ nuts. Through the looking glass

The storm has finally broken. The horror which yesterday rocked my mood in Manchester-bringing with it all manner of ill fortune, and an unrelenting rain from a howling, protesting sky- has now passed. Continue reading “Through the looking glass”

There is a light that never goes out.

As I wait on the platform for the train this morning, which is invariably running late, I look out across the still-inky sky to the rolling purple hills beyond me. I watch Wordsworth’s clouds wandering lonely across them, weaving between the dark spindling trees, casting shadows, and I think about how sometimes we all fail to attend to the beauty that is right in front of us. Continue reading “There is a light that never goes out.”

London calling…

Some days I really miss London. I miss the aimless wanderings in my own world, amidst the heaving throng of city dwellers. I miss being anonymous. Continue reading “London calling…”

A very Feliz Cumpleanõs

The alarm goes off today at the ungodly hour of 5:30am and every fibre of my being yells out in protest as I sink further beneath the duvet. The second alarm kicks in and I can’t stay sore for too long however, as it’s all in the name of adventure. Continue reading “A very Feliz Cumpleanõs”

A canny tale

It’s still foggy here in Carmel today, and the sea mist keeps the air muggy, so my hair is in a ratchety mess of curls. Continue reading “A canny tale”
