Some days I really miss London. I miss the aimless wanderings in my own world, amidst the heaving throng of city dwellers. I miss being anonymous. Continue reading “London calling…”
I love New Orleans. Everyone here is so friendly. People greet each other in the street, call hellos and comment on the weather from their front porches. It’s a great little community. Hapless Birt has been left behind momentarily in favour of a Louisiana lilt. After being advised to imagine my words stacked together like soldiers falling lazily into each other, I’m practicing a smooth southern drawl and I’m a regular dandy. Coffee. I need coffee. And breakfast. And water, definitely water. My stream of consciousness this morning waking up on my first full day in here in New Orleans following a raucous evening. I head to Horn, a cute little cafe on Touro and acquire myself something called a ‘Jewish Coonass’. It’s a crawfish and latke combo and damn, is it good. A takeout box for leftovers and I head out into the sun. Continue reading “The Louisiana purchase”
I awake with the sun rising over The Atlantic, a brilliant pink, and steal a few more minutes of slumber. I’m up early today to head to Miami and picking up the Tri-rail double decker train, I set off on my long journey. Will Smith is on my iPod singing about South Beach as we set off, and I’m in the zone. Continue reading “Party in the city where the heat is on”
I’m en route to West Palm Beach today so this means another two internal flights this morning. I’m not entirely sure what possessed someone who is completely petrified of air travel to book all their stops using aeroplanes; but here we are once more. Continue reading “Going with the flo…”
Today I’m heading slightly out of town up to Savannah’s Bonaventure Cemetery on the bluff of the Wilmington River. Seen as it was a key deciding factor on me stopping here over Charleston; I’m pretty excited to say the least. Continue reading “Une Bonne Aventure…”
Today I rise early with a somewhat wine flavoured headache, and set off in the rush hour traffic to Reagan Airport. This morning I’m leaving DC flying Delta via Atlanta, to Savannah. Continue reading “Rebel with a cause”
