Wheel of fortune

I adore fairy stories. The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, even Disney. They’ve all been a staple part of my reading diet circa ‘a long, long time ago’. Hence how I find myself here this evening, at a concert about a fairy tale. When my friend invited me to join her for this Hallé orchestra event, she knew I’d say ‘yes!’ straight away given our current mutual obsession with ‘Once Upon a Time’ a TV show featuring all your favourite characters as they battle evil, cross realms, and fire off copious amounts of magic spells. A familia affair…

Once upon a time…

I stir sleepily from hazy dreams and my barely conscious brain immediately computes that I need coffee. And some form of carbohydrates. Pronto.

We head out into the mid-morning, the sky a sea of white; a lukewarm tinge to the day.

Gon-dola with the wind

When I wake up today it’s still windy and cloudy, which doesn’t amuse me. Come on California, where is my sun?! The sky is scheduled to clear around noon so I potter about and grab some breakfast from whole foods until it clears (note: I am obsessed with this place and will be starting a petition to get one opened in Manchester upon my return).
