Something in the water

So today is a new day and I’ve awoken to the sad fact that my beer to blood ratio isn’t looking at all favourable. Eughhh.

I gather what little energy I have left, and set off in search of tea and food to soak up last’s nights party, before throwing the double denim on and heading back to the O2. Continue reading “Something in the water”

Chickadee soup for the soul

I couldn’t sleep at all last night. I was far too restless with nervous excitement. I’m up early today, and taking a south-bound train to London for a weekend at the Country2Country music festival. That’s three entire days to fully immerse myself in my very favourite genre of music and reinvigorate my frazzled nerves. Pure heaven. Continue reading “Chickadee soup for the soul”

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby…

Tonight I am off to a concert at Manchester’s Ruby Lounge. I have often walked past this tiny unobtrusive place on the tail end of Piccadilly’s High Street without giving it a second glance. A slightly grimy looking venue, and usually papered in ‘Manc Club Night’ posters, it is customarily home to rock and roll/indie acts. I was therefore surprised somewhat to find a forthcoming billing for two country music artists, which is how I find myself here, on this evening, queuing excitedly for the doors to open. Continue reading “Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby…”

This ain’t my first rodeo cowboy…

Except of course, that it is. Today I’ve taken the TRE train an hour West of Dallas to Fort Worth to hit up The Stockyards. Continue reading “This ain’t my first rodeo cowboy…”

Islands in the stream

It’s raining today in Nashville. Not a little one hour tropical storm i’m used to in the USA, but a full blown grey sky, relentless British drizzle. Yuk. Fortunately I have my trusty travel umbrella to hand, although I’m massively regretting the open toed sandals, seeing as i’m now probably going to contract trench foot. Continue reading “Islands in the stream”

These boots weren’t made for walking…

I wake up today still a little dazed and head out for an early morning stroll. The streets are being hosed down after a colour run and the pavement is covered in streams of yellows and oranges. It’s barely even 10, but already I hear live country music coming out of the venues on Broadway. Continue reading “These boots weren’t made for walking…”

Music City

I wake up with an extremely sore head today and I’m feeling a little bit sorry for myself; not least of all because I have to leave the wonder of New Orleans behind me today.

Breakfast is a pleasure of plantain, eggs, avocado and salsa but I still can’t shake my hesitancy or my hangover. Continue reading “Music City”
